Introduction to BIT and BIT Zhuhai

 

Founded in 1940, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) is a top national university in China, recognized under the prestigious “211 Project”, “985 Project” and “Double First-Class” initiatives. BIT enjoys a strong reputation both domestically and internationally, as reflected in a series of notable rankings: 259th in the 2026 QS World University Rankings, within the top 102 in the 2025 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), 156th in the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings, and 236th in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. Founded in 2001, Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai (BIT Zhuhai) is a high-level international campus established in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area by Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). Located in the “Golden Inner Bay” and at the heart of the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Zone, the campus enjoys a prime position with convenient access to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macao, offering a beautiful and inspiring environment for learning. Pre-University Program Introduction

Pre-University Program of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) is a preparatory education program for undergraduate studies open to international students. Students can choose Chinese-taught or English-taught program based on the further undergraduate program requirements. This program aims to help international students enhance their language proficiency and academic foundations through 1 to 2 semesters systematic study in order to meet the requirements of Beijing Institute of Technology undergraduate admission. Upon successful completion of the program in BIT Zhuhai campus, students will be awarded a certificate of completion issued by BIT Zhuhai.

Eligibility

ü  Must be non-Chinese citizen holding a valid foreign passport;

ü  Aged 24 or below;

ü  Graduates of senior high school (or above);

ü  Must be in good physical and mental health.

 

Application Materials (* is required)

*1. The Photocopy of the Passport (photo page, Chinese visa page if you have);

*2. ID Photo with A White Background;

*3. Highest Degree Certificate;

*4. High School Transcript;

*5. Proof of Language Proficiency (For Chinese-taught program: HSK 4 is needed for one semester program, HSK 3 is needed for one-year program. For English-taught program: IELTS≥6.0; TOEFL≥85 or Duolingo≥110 or other language certificate recognized by BIT. English native speakers are exempted);

*6. Personal Statement (download BIT International Student Personal Statement template from http://isc.cuanfei.com/→Resources→Download, complete it, and upload it in the application system);

7. Scholarship Application Form (if apply for BIT Zhuhai “Study in BIT” International Students New Student Scholarship , please fill the form and upload it to the application system);

8. Applications under 18 (if you are under 18, please refer to "Application Materials for Student under 18 for Zhuhai Campus" on http://isc.cuanfei.com/ → Resources → Download, and upload all required materials as instructed);

9. Physical Examination Record for Foreigner (please undergo a physical examination at a hospital following the requirements in the Physical Examination Record for Foreigners, available in the "Download" section, and upload it in the application system);

10. Financial Guarantee Letter (The certificate of bank saving);

11. Non-criminal Record (Issued by local police station);

12. Other documents.

u Pay the application fee online after passing application initial review;

BIT Zhuhai “Study in BIT” International Students New Student Scholarship

To attract outstanding international students to study in Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai has promoted BIT Zhuhai “Study in BIT” International Students New Student Scholarship to attract more outstanding international students to study in BIT Zhuhai campus. This scholarship covers 50% of the tuition fees for the Pre-University program. Pre-University Students applicants are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

u Application Deadline:

January 1, 2026 (for enrollment in March 2026)

May 15, 2026 (for enrollment in September 2026)

Note: The nomination quota for this scholarship is allocated proportionally based on the actual number of applicants in the corresponding semester/academic year. Recipients of the scholarship must be under review of the university scholarship panel in BIT Zhuhai.

 

NOTE:

The minimum class size of the program is 15 students. Less than 15 students, the class will be canceled.

Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai reserves the right of final interpretation of all the policies related to the Pre-University Program.
